Frequently Asked Questions

There are many variables that affect the price of each designer piece at Lithos Jewelry. Designer jewelry is made for different conditions, each piece a bit different from the one before. Such things as the metal chosen, 18K or Platinum, can affect the final price of the piece. Platinum is more expensive than 18K because it is more rare and harder to work. Finger size can also affect the price, the more metal used the higher the price. The same theory applies to the size of the diamond being set. The size of a piece is proportional to the size of the diamond. A design for a 0.50 ct diamond will be less expensive than for a 1.50 ct diamond. Enhancements to the original design, such as accent stones or inlayed metal will also increase the final price of the finished piece.

Most of our designers have a 4 to 6 week order period, depending on the season. Of course, Christmas is very busy for the designers. It is best to contact us so that we can get you a more accurate expected date. Our advice is not to procrastinate, especially when only the best will do.

The price of the Steven Kretchmer Omega depends on the finger size and the size of the diamond to be set. Please call and we will be glad to go over the actual price. The ring can be made for any finger size and stone size from 0.50 ct to 3.00 ct. To see the prices of available diamonds go to Diamonds.

Steven Kretchmer has an extensive jewelry collection. There are many styles of rings for women and men. There are also earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and pendants. Unfortunately, there is no digital catalogue of the collection. If you are interested in specific pieces please email us so we can personally help you.

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has set the standard for grading diamonds. The GIA is recognized all over the world as the full authority on evaluation of color, clarity, and cut of diamonds. One subsidiary of the GIA is the Gem Trade Laboratory (GTL). They provide diamond grading reports. In the trade, this is generally called a GIA cert. A GIA cert can be compared to title insurance when buying a house. Buying a GIA certed stone means that you know exactly the quality of diamond. There are other certification for diamonds, but ONLY the GIA certification has world recognition. There are two Graduate Gemologist here at Lithos, both trained by the Gemological Institute of America.
