Dear Friends,

Our report from Cozumel is that the reefs are recovering nicely from hurricane Wilma. The fish are returning. We saw a family of eight drum fish. Our previous record is four. It was a magnificent sight.

We have hearts for Valentine’s Day. The featured pink sapphire clasp is shown on a Tourmaline vario necklace.

Our clasp gallery on the website is growing and changing. JQ Magazine just featured this aspect of our jewelry business.

Tourmaline

What are seed pearls? By definition they are small, a half of a grain. The unit of measure of the pearl is the grain of which there are 480 grains in an ounce. The seed pearl is natural or cultured. It is from Japan, the akoya, or from China, the fresh water pearl. The seed pearls are most commonly seen in the Art Nouveau jewelry of the early 20th century. The pearl chocker necklaces are the most reminiscent of this period. Prior to this period they adorned clothing and tapestries. In our featured necklace they are drilled and connected by hand with 18K gold wire.

The first week of February is the largest gem show in the world in Tucson, Arizona. We will attend “Centurion” an invitation only show of only 150 jewelers. We will preview the new exciting jewelry for spring. A hint is that most designers are focusing on the brown colors for gems and pearls. We then attend many of the dozens of individual shows throughout the city.

Have a Happy St. Valentine’s Day.

Thank you again for your patronage and friendship. We appreciate you all.

With love,

Lornie and Rose
