Dear Friends,
We arrived January 1st in Cozumel, greeted by a warm sun. The North Wind of Mayan legend awakened us that evening. Its ferocity closed the port to small crafts and prevented us from diving for three days. In comparison to the ambient air temperature, the 78 degree water seemed warm the days we dove. The period of the full moon gave us wonderful rides in the swift currents, passing new yellow anemones filled with shrimp and crabs, snappers, hawksbill turtles and the beautiful French angelfish. The island was home to Ix-Chel, the goddess of fertility. The Mayans made pilgrimages to San Gervasio to petition her. In our commercial world it’s easy to overlook the rich history of this island and the warmth of these indigenous people.

There are many times we can’t have what we want. There are always viable, worthy substitutes. If one were to covet a 4.0 ct, natural color, pink diamond, it would not only be impossible to locate, but if located, would be prohibitively expensive. On the other hand, this pink tourmaline is rich in color and the expert faceting of the gem gives a fanciful play of light.
Do not wash your strand of pearls. It will stretch the silk used to knot the pearls and compromise its strength. If you feel stickiness from hair spray, use a natural fiber, damp cloth to carefully wipe the individual pearls. If your strand is worn often, it should be re-strung. This is a service we gladly offer.
Aman is back in Afghanistan translating. Please keep him in your thoughts.

Thank you again for your patronage and friendship. We appreciate all of you.
With love,
Lornie and Rose
