Sparkling round brilliant diamonds adorn all sides of this18K white gold heart clasp accented with black rhodium. There are 2.7 carats of brilliant diamonds. The heart is shown here on a strand of lustrous natural colorblack cultured Keshi pearls.
Did you know…
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but there is much more to this dazzling gemstone than just sparkle and brilliance. Diamonds are the only gemstone to be composed of only one element – carbon.
Diamonds are also the hardest of all gemstones, but not the toughest. Hardness refers to the stones resistance to scratching. Only diamond can scratch diamond. Toughness refers to a stones resistance to breakage. Jade is actually the toughest gemstone.
There are hundreds, possibly thousands of different cuts of diamond. The most popular is the round brilliant, which has 57 or 58 facets. Others include the Asscher, emerald, princess and radiant. All cuts are a variation of the modern round brilliant.
A Note from Rose
It’s time to look at your jewelry appraisals. This year gold and platinum prices dramatically escalated. Most jewelry appraisals are written to obtain insurance. I advise self-insuring for jewelry costing under $1,000.
Here are a few questions:
Is the current value for your jewelry a realistic value, or is it an inflated value? If you paid $5,000 for a diamond, it should appraise for close to that value. Yes, even if the original price was $10,000! Insurance companies are smart and do know true values.
Are you trying to insure sentiment? This cannot be done.
If you have any questions about value, writing appraisals or jewelry please feel free to email me at Info@lithosjewelry.com
