Lithos Jewelry

Volume 3 Issue 7

Dear Friends,

Change in our industry can often be interesting. The largest jewelry show in the United States in Las Vegas is definitely more complicated. What began as one HUGE show held at the Sands Convention Center is now a myriad number of shows held in different casinos. The venues are of course, totally different. The Couture and Luxury shows still showcase most of the designers, but we’re finding that many of these designers are moving back to areas within the primary show. With over 2,000 exhibitors at the Sands, we opted to spend our brief time there. We still see that a serious focus in jewelry is in the use of color and more color. The designs incorporate mixed metals, with silver taking command. There is definitely more optimism this year among jewelers than last, albeit guarded. We found beautiful colored, faceted beads and new pearls to add to our collection and hopefully, yours.

The French language appears regularly in our world of jewelry. One hears the word Soufflé and immediately begins to feel a mouth watering sensation along with a visual of a wonderful culinary creation. Not this time! We now have Soufflé pearls. These pearls are much like their dessert counterpart; they are ever so light and so incredibly beautiful. There is no bead nucleus in the Soufflé pearls. The Chinese are unbelievably resourceful. They use dried “pond muck” to form a nucleus upon which the nacre can grow and the pearl can form. Yes, these are fresh water, cultured pearls. We have a beautiful strand in the Vario system. We even found two matching pair for light, but large, pearl earrings; a true oxymoron.

Lithos Jewelry is definitely in the 21st century. We have joined the “social network” and set up a Facebook page. If you would like to be a Fan please join us.
