Dear Friends,
Geology is a good field for a person drifting away from center. It is rooted, stable and real. The problem in changing one's major comes with prerequisites like crystallography, mineralogy and chemistry. The chemistry class was large and the subject matter difficult. There was the prize pupil, an anomaly. He was strong, wiry and confident. He had long curly dark brown hair, full beard and mustache. We never spoke. One day the hair was gone. I mentioned in passing, if he ever needed a good haircut he could give me a call. He did and I did. June 5th we'll celebrate our 40th year, sealed. Happy Anniversary, Lornie.
My friend, Geri, asked me to write about "blue-white" diamonds. Blue-white originally came from the colorless diamonds that fluoresced blue in black light or ultraviolet light. The Jagersfontein mine in South Africa produced such a diamond. Jewelers frequently used this color term to sell diamonds, even if they weren't blue. It misled the public into believing the diamond was of a better quality than it actually was. This misuse of the term led the Federal Trade Commission to rule it was an unfair trade practice to use "blue-white" for any diamond that when viewed in normal, North daylight showed any color other than that of a natural blue diamond.

Thank you again for your patronage and friendship. We appreciate all of you.
With love,
Lornie and Rose
