November will be a good month for all of us. It is a month to think about family and friends; the people that we love and that love us in return. Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for memories, good and bad, that shape our character. It is a time for reflection and thoughtfulness.

CYMA watch had its beginning in Switzerland in 1862. CYMA is from the French word, cime, or summit. The very word reflects the quality of the timepiece.

The watches produced by CYMA feature the Swiss ETA quartz movement, the automatic movement or the quartz-auto movement. I, personally, can attest to the quality and durability of the CYMA watch. I currently have 997 dives. My CYMA has accompanied me on all of these dives. Gemstones are like families, they can have many members. This month I’d like to talk about the family or species, chrysoberyl. It is a hard stone, being 81/2 on the Mohs scale. The sources for this stone are the USSR, Sri Lanka, Brazil and India. It is scarce. The species includes a transparent variety that is a light to medium yellow, to a yellowish green. It isn’t commonly used in jewelry, as it’s rare. Alexandrite is the color change variety of the mineral species chrysoberyl. First discovered in the Ural Mountains, it is named after the daughter of Czar Nicolas. Cat’s eye chrysoberyl is the chatoyant variety of the mineral species. Upon careful examination one can see the eye more.
