Did You Know?

Corundum is a mineral species which includes different color varieties.  If a specific color is especially rare it is given its own name.  We refer to most color varieties of corundum as fancy sapphire. It includes yellow, green, purple, pink and orange.  As red corundum is rare, it is called ruby.  Likewise, blue is called sapphire.

The intensities of the colors will vary with their respective locations in the world.  The most prized sapphires come from Kashmir, the most prized rubies from Burma.

Colored gemstones are valued by color, color, color.
