Volume 2 Issue 10
October 1, 2009

Dear Friends,

A noticeable change occurs in October. People are busier with their schedules full. We begin the month with the Susan G. Komen “race for the cure”. This year our walk will have personal meaning. We will walk for our daughter, Naomi. She is finally, well. Tammy, Lornie’s apprentice goldsmith, will marry Paul. We wish them much happiness in their new life together.

I hear many people talk about putting their jewelry in ultra sonic cleaners. These machines are not professional models and should be avoided. The vibrations actually loosen diamonds. Diamonds are harder than metal. The harsh action of the machine actually enables the diamonds to hammer and distort the metal, thus loosening the stones. The safest way to clean your jewelry, aside from having it done professionally, is to make a solution of ¼ cup water, a teaspoon of ammonia and a few drops of liquid dishwashing detergent. Let your jewelry soak overnight and use a soft toothbrush, if necessary, to scrub beneath the stones. Rinse the jewelry and the hand lotion will be gone.

Our clown fish are busy laying eggs at least twice a month. It is interesting to note the attentiveness of the male clown fish. He is a very active participant in the entire process.

Thank you again for your patronage and friendship. We appreciate all of you.

~HAPPY HALLOWEEN ~

With love,
Lornie and Rose
